The archeological works made in wide range on the terrain occupied now by the brown coal mine, allow to make a statement, that the human settlements already existed here in the neolith period, it means 2500-3000 years BC. The traces of cabins, the rests of furnaces for ceramic burning, and also the cemeteries discovered near the villages Czyżów and Piaski indicate, that favorable place chosen for season and partial permanent settlements discovered here is dated to the culture of Łużyce it. M. ca. 600-400 years BC.
About the unusual initiative of the ancient inhabitants of this land can give evidence the furnaces for lime stone burning discovered in 2003 in the village Kamień. As you can see the local mineral raw materials already before thousands of years were applicable, and their processing was the source of the upkeep for the locals.
For the first time the name Kleszczów appeared in the book "Liber Beneficorium" of Jan Łaski from the 15th century. The village belonged in this time to the property of the Gniezno diocese, likely the another three in the book mentioned localities: Łuszczanowice, Kuców and Żłobnica. In the 19th century Kleszczów was the part of the parish of Sulmierzyce. The territory of the district was occupied by four nations. Near the Poles lived here Germans and Jews, and also big group of Czechs, which escaped from their fatherland because of religious persecutions. Their took over the evangelic - protestant confession. Their parish exist in Kleszczów until now. It has been transferred from the territory of the Kuców village, occupied - like some another settlements - by the strip mine of the brown coal mine.
