In 1960 there has been discovered and in the next years documented the rich brown coal deposit on the territory of the Kleszczów commune. But first in 1975 was taken the decision about its industrial use. The establishing of the brown coal mine in Bełchatów and power plant Bełchatów was the breakthrough in the development of Kleszczów and the near localities. The poor agricultural terrains became the place of the Poland's greatest concentration of mining and energetic industry.

The strong position of the mine and the power plant on the economical map of Poland has not change after the political overthrow from 1989. No wonder. Thanks to the cooperation of both undertakings there is produced the cheapest electric energy in Poland. The ambitious development plans, which assume the exploitation of new coal deposits and the building of the new energetic block with the power of 833 MW, will reinforce KWB Bełchatów and the power plant Bełchatów on the leader positions of the capital group BOT Górnictwo i Energetyka SA.

The municipal government reform from 1990 had for Kleszczów a meaning comparable with the location of the energetic complex on this territory. At the instance of the reform the money from the taxes and local charges, paid to the municipal purse by the local firms became the stimulation for the further development.

The municipal office in first turn put on the improvement of the living conditions of the inhabitants. From that time, for the built-up of the local infrastructure have been assigned up to 70% of the expenses from the municipal budged. Planning the solutions in view of the communication, energetic system, water and sewage systems and gas systems there was taken into consideration the possibility of such a built-up of these systems, in order to meet the expectations of the industrial consumers. It resulted from the assumptions of the strategic vision of the district development. Because the municipal government of Kleszczów put on the creation of the conditions encouraging the next industrial investments.

As a result - although Kleszczów still stays a village commune - many municipal centers could envy him the developed technical infrastructure. This is a commune, which has good prepared itself to the challenges put by the 21th century.
